There should be an ambient weed rapper that samples only Harold Budd related music called Harry Budd.

Like I said, Finest Ego doesn’t stick to the rules of a monthly mix… However, I will say this might be the best Future Garage / Post Dubstep mix I have heard this year. Well that Ramadanman Fabric Mix is kind of holding that torch actually, but this is still pretty great.
This was recorded live to DAT using nothing but vinyl. The tracks are pretty fresh stating that none of them are more than 3 months old, so in internet terms people have already forgotten about these songs.
Radio&Fernesh’s taste is impeccable and the mixing is generally pretty on point.

Subway Reading
Picked up the latest issue of Me Magazine recently at St. Marks Books (which is in danger of closing, please don’t let that happen).
The issue is curated by Director / Designer / Creative Mike Mills.
His approach to the issue was to ask his hand picked contributors a personalized question and then to have them shoot photos of the same 6 things.
1. Their work desk
2. Their unmade bed
3. Their closet
4. Favorite shoes
5. Sink
6. Self portrait in mirror
For those living outside of New York, you can buy it here. If you live in New York, PLEASE support the wonderful St. Marks Books. I understand Amazon is a holy sanctity of cheapness, but they are basically the Wal-Mart of e-commerce and it’s getting harder and harder to support such a thing.

BEATS BEATS BEATS!!!
Finest Ego continues their monthly mix series with a double header (actually triple since they don’t actually follow a “monthly” schedule) from Berlin based DJs Scott Hobbs & Soulmind. The mix is split into two sections, Peaktime and Afterhour. The mixes were recorded live from a supposed magical evening opening up for Mike Slott.
Loads of Fly Lo, edIT, Lunice, Jamie XX, and new comer Ifan Dafydd + many more in the set.
Since we have two sets, there will be two links.

Recently in a conversation with a good friend of mine he was trying to describe my humor and attitude toward life. Though he was a little drunk, I sense it was coming from a genuine place (as most things drunk people say are) and it made me really think about those attributes.
I tend to analyze so many things in the world during my average day as do most comedians I tend to lean towards. Circleface thinks of me as Larry David at times. Which to me is an honest person. Crochety, but honest. Another comedian I have come respect as a genuine person is Louis CK. Though his show is not for everyone and really takes the confrontational approach to another level, it reflects a space my head is constantly in. The shitty space of dealing with shitty people on the regular.
I won’t front and say I have backed CK for years. His show, now in it’s second season, is the main reason of interest. His writing is incredibly real and definitely not your conventional situation comedy. Having just watched the season finale where the show takes him to Afghanistan for a USO tour I can’t help but feel what he must have felt when he actually toured Kuwait in 2009. I highly recommend watching the episode, Duckling, that is currently streaming on Hulu and reading his blog posts about his real tour.
While watching the show, I noticed in one of the last shots a Leica hanging from his backpack. WHOA! What a surprise to see. I immediately Googled what I saw to see if anyone was talking about it, but what turned up was far better.
It turns out CK is somewhat of a photography fanatic. During his tour of Kuwait in 2009 he took a Leica MP, Leica D-lux 3, and a Flip Mino for video. He then actually followed through with not only great photos/video on his blog, but such eloquent writing on what he saw and felt during his 10 day trip.
It is hard for me to describe my admiration for someone that clearly sees the world for what it is, and I hope you can understand after reading his wonderful blog posts.

Let’s start the week of with another volume in the steady growing WIZARD H.O.U.S.E. series from bay area Disco Head / Future Bass Producer / All Around Classy Guy, @VinSol.
Though I wasn’t ready for the quick mixes at the start, I have to say Vin Sol just gets it. Dude knows where the soul is. The tunes start to breathe a little more after the first 10 minutes or so, so don’t think my man is just running through tracks. Shit gets deep and furreal furreal.

I really do think they should make a Kickstarter for this project or at least an instructables page. I would definitely buy this just on principle.
