Houston’s latest collective, Bombon, is taking the Latin initiative and trying to push things a little further in the Houston area. While their members have been DJing Hip Hop, House, and Club in and around Texas for years, this new project takes cues from that of Austin’s Peligrosa, New York’s Dutty Artz and Que Bajo.
Latin tinged music seems to be the craze right now amongst the internet and I don’t blame anyone for not getting loose when some Salsa or Cumbia gets played and plenty of both are all over this mix. You can also expect original remixes, Cumbia Digital, and Moombahton rounding out the mix.

Recommended Listening / Moombahton EP
Orion (@dj_orion) and Guapo Feo teamed up for a new collaborative series not unlike Heartbreak & Munchi’s H&M series. The difference with this first release is Orion’s take on 3ball style giving us his Boombahchero edits and Guapo Feo being aggro with some heavy Moombahcore tracks.
More calavera art for the cover, but not gonna focus on that much. The music is what we should be paying attention. Kids like heavy music these days, we all know this. If you can’t fist pump, then it’s not good seems to be a global mentality these days. Good thing for these guys, not only can you fist pump, but you can two step with it.
The heaviness of the EP does take it to dude territory (see Dubstep), but the Latin base gives it just enough swing that it won’t scare the girls away… well maybe from the soon to be shirtless dudes on the dancefloor.

WOW! Way to go dudes. This is an amazing achievement for Austin/Texas/Latino Musicians and just everyone involved and supportive of quality music.
Grupo Fantasma has been the cream of the crop in the Latin music scene in the South for some time now, and well this is what it is all about. I can’t be happier for them and I wish them continued success.

Recommended Listening / DJ Mix / Tribal Guarachero
Man Recordings recently posted their newest podcast for Man FM that features the boys from DOWN south 3Ball MTY + Toy Selektah. 3Ball MTY are at the front of the newest sub genre of bass music coming from Mexico and the very cool thing is they are just in their teens.
Tribal Guarachero is a blend of regional Mexican sounds with House, Techno and Electro. I am very excited to hear what comes from this somewhat new sound and scene. Latinos in dance music is always something to be proud of.
