HVW8 x Lisa Leone

This past Friday Hollywood saw many firsts. HVW8 Gallery opened their latest show featuring cinematographer/photographer Lisa Leone. Though her work is undeniably amazing, this was her first solo show. “Then” exhibits Leone’s very personal photography of the world’s greatest Hip Hop artists ranging from the late Guru to Eazy E as well as a neighborhood posse only New York can birth such as Debbie Mazar, Marisa Tomei, and RSC’s Pop Master Fable. For the occasion, HVW8 + Leone printed a very small run of books (100 copies) that is still available via their website. The book marks the first venture into printed matter for the gallery and I am glad to have grabbed a copy before I headed out.

KCRW’s Jeremy Sole was on hand for the private event, DJing a classic New York set that kept Leone’s crew on the floor all night. The other first was a bit more personal in the fact that this was my first time going out since I moved to LA a month ago and having a great time. Ironically enough, the party felt like the New York I fell in love with years ago.
