Hand Painted LA
Though New York definitely has some amazing hand painted signage amongst the thousands of store fronts, it feels like you see less and less of it with each year. Same goes for the rampant graffiti scene that once covered the entire city.
Los Angeles, on the other hand, still seems to represent a golden era in visual communication. Graffiti artists still use spray paint and are not attending school for graphic design, and corner stores still depend on their non-gentrified customer base to keep them afloat. Their store fronts read like a child’s shopping list, a list that would presumably be very simple and obviously leaning towards junk food.
This photo was shot near my apato. An indoor flea market that had an entire store selling Chinese made “track” bikes and accessories.
