Daytripper / Austin Art Happenings
I was lucky to catch this while in Austin for SXSW. Smalltown Pete (@smalltownpete) & myself were walking over to the Fader Fort as I glimpsed over to see a mutual friend of ours hanging inside of Domy. We walked in, said hello, and I quickly bolted to their gallery space not knowing what was showing.
The show was of Deana and Ed Templeton’s photos from some of their current and upcoming works. Ed was once a skateboard world champion turned business mogul when he founded Toy Machine. Throughout his career in the skate world, his art & photography started to become more and more recognized which lead to many other projects. His street life photography follows in the footsteps of the greats and continues to inspire me.
His wife has released numerous photo ‘zines and is getting ready to publish a new book.
Their relationship and artistry always give me a smile.
So if you are out and about in Austin this weekend, stop by Domy to get a look at these great works.
You must learn.

Recommended Reading / Bike ‘Zine
With NAHBS having just passed in Austin, I am turning my attention to one of my other loves in life, BIKES!
Picked this up while I was in Austin over SXSW at Wheatsville Co-Op. Dropout is a local zine all about the Texas cycling life. I have been trying to collect them since the first issue, but may have missed the last one (ahem, holler for my address).
The Winter issue is a special issue dedicated to the women riders that often get neglected in the cycling community. Great write ups and stories all involving the better sex and I can’t stress enough about supporting your LOCAL cycling advocates.
Available for mail order and if you are in the Austin area, try and run by Wheatsville to grab one.

Recommended Listening / Dj Mix
The homie Chorizo Funk is at it again. This is vol 8 of his on going Chorizo Chunks series, recorded all live + with nothing but vinyl. My man is nice behind the decks, and always has great selection.
I don’t think there is a track list anywhere, but we don’t always need to know what someone is gonna play. Bring back the magic to DJing.
