Thanksgiving Day Ride
Decided to take a stroll South during Thanksgiving day. I was home alone. The weather was perfect. Why not?
Invisible Airbag Helmet
Shout out to @nicktheduke for this. This stylish looking piece offers more than warming your neck, it could potentially save you life. Though I would not put all my eggs in this basket, I completely back the idea and wish the best to the design team.
Another way we can prevent cars from hitting cyclists is getting rid of cars completely. Now that is a thought.

Dropout (Winter 2011)

Recommended Reading / Bike ‘Zine
With NAHBS having just passed in Austin, I am turning my attention to one of my other loves in life, BIKES!
Picked this up while I was in Austin over SXSW at Wheatsville Co-Op. Dropout is a local zine all about the Texas cycling life. I have been trying to collect them since the first issue, but may have missed the last one (ahem, holler for my address).
The Winter issue is a special issue dedicated to the women riders that often get neglected in the cycling community. Great write ups and stories all involving the better sex and I can’t stress enough about supporting your LOCAL cycling advocates.
Available for mail order and if you are in the Austin area, try and run by Wheatsville to grab one.
Tokyo To Osaka (full version)
I caught this over at Prolly’s today. I first blogged about this video maybe a little over a year ago and have been waiting for it ever since.
I had not checked in on it for some time, but I am glad Prolly got to it or else I would have missed it for awhile.
Watching this makes me miss Japan + my bike sooooooooo much more and I can’t wait to get both of them back into my life.
Shout out to Nic Hill for making this short + getting everyone together for the journey.
The Social Bicycle System

The Social Bicycle System will be testing the waters of New York City this Fall with their innovative system that allows end users to share a number of designated bicycles to use throughout the city. The system requires an iPhone or Android handset to be able to unlock the bikes via a GPS wireless communication. You can also find where the nearest bicycle is available by using their app to locate them.
This is a great idea and I wish more major cities would take the initiative to introduce this to their city planning. I hope NYC can set a good example with the system, which unfortunately, will be a hard task due to major theft. Fingers crossed guys.
You can read more about it via Mashable or visit Social Bicycles to keep up with their progress.
Interbike 2010

Interbike 2010 is just about to kick off tomorrow in Las Vegas and I wish I could be there for it. I am going to be keeping up with it via Twitter and their all encompassing social media page.
Some of the boys from Mellow Johnny’s will be down there as well, so hopefully they will keep me posted on some new exciting stuff in the cycling world.
Michael Jackson Riding A Bicycle
Loop Magazine issue #6
Finally found a copy of the newest issue of Loop Magazine. For those unfamiliar, it is a Japanese magazine that covers mostly track bikes, but also all other forms of cycling are represented. Basically bike porn.
Also I wish I would have known about the 1 year anniversary party on the 16th. Ugh. Happy birthday guys!

The race benefits the fight against cancer and is presented by Livestrong Foundation as well as Marfa Public Radio.
The ride will be held on Sept 25th, 2010 and is a 62 mile loop.
If any cyclists would like to join me for this ride we should talk and really try to make it happen. The registration fee is not much and the experience will be great.

Queen - Bicycle Race / Fat Bottomed Girls
This poster was used for promoting the single of the same name. This was indeed after the fact that the band had staged something a bit more controversial than some silly posters.
“The band staged a famous nude, all-female bicycle race to promote the single. The bicycle race took place on 17 September 1978 at Wimbledon Stadium in London.”
