Wax Poetics Japan X Beams Records: Brad Howe Exhibition

Walking around Harajuku with the homie Pase showing me a ton of new places I hadn’t seen, he told me about Beams Records. They offer the best hand picked items in the musical realm, ranging from Bossa Nova re-issues to exclusive CDs from Japanese Funk DJs.
When we walked in they had a great display of Wax Poetics Japan and many works from Brad Howe on display. I didn’t realize it was an exhibition until one item caught my eye. The store teamed up with WPJP, Howe, & PROPS radio to release an exclusive mixtape packaged with about 30 mini prints of Howe’s illustrations nicely packaged with a piece of candy. The show titled GRATITUDE ran until this past Sunday the 15th and I am glad I had the random chance of seeing it.
I initially picked up the package giving it minor attention until I realized that the mixtape included was actually from Wax Poetics contributor Amir of Boston’s DJ duo Kon & Amir. I then looked closer to notice it was a live set from Kon & Amir recorded at my extended SF family’s Sweater Funk party. Needless to say, I immediately copped it.
You can view more photos of the package on Howe’s blog linked above and I am working on finding a link so you can possibly order one for yourself.
